Event Planning Tips

Event planning Tip #1: Make sure the purpose for the special event is important enough to merit the time and expense needed.

Event planning Tip #2: Carefully match the type of event that is selected to the purpose that it serves.

Event planning Tip #3: Plan ahead of time accordingly, and allow plenty of time for reconsideration, rescheduling, etc.

Event Planning Tip #4: Start planning at least three months, and in many cases, a year ahead of time.

Event Planning Tip #5: Make a checklist!! It allows you to see a step by step process to managing and performing a special event.

Event Planning Tip #6: Determine if you need any special licenses or permits to host your event

Event planning Tip #7: Make sure there is adequate space for parking and the parking lot is not far away from the event.

Event Planning Tip #8: Make sure there is enough room capacity for all your guests as well as audiovisual equipment.

Event Planning Tip #9: No matter what plans you are making, you need to make sure the seating chart is appropriate.

Event Planning Tip #10: Plan for emergencies. Write down all the fire exits and plan for an evacuation in case of an emergency.

Things to Avoid #5: Do not abuse your theme (know when to use them). Generally, personal events are more themed friendly than corporate events

Things to Avoid #6: Failing to select the right facility for your event. Its location, location, location!

Things to Avoid #7: Underestimating the time need to plan a special event. It takes time to plan a successful event.

Things to Avoid #8: Planning the whole event alone. Exercise a team approach and enlist to ensure success of the event.
